SURPRISINGLY, POLICE OFFICER MUST WITNESS ALL COMMUNICATION BETWEEN LAWYER AND ARRESTED SUSPECT. Although, lawyers are authorised to have private and privileged communication with clients, where a lawyer is to communicate with an arrested suspect, such communication or legal advice must be done in the presence of a police officer or any officer of the security agency having custody of the arrested suspect. My authorities are sections 14(3), 494 and 495 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015 and other similar laws across States in Nigeria.
