The accused was charged for theft, contrary to Section 133 of the Kano State Sharia Law. According to the Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Ahmed Magawata, on Sept. 30, Manniru Sani of Yakassai Quarters reported a case of theft to the Kofar Wambai police division, Kano. The report said that on that date, Ismail stole Sani’s set of clothes valued at N12, 000 which were hanged on a line to dry. Ismail pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge.
