Arthur Obi Okafor (SAN) in a lecture in honour of the president during the Law Week of the NBA Eket Branch, Akwa Ibom State, said Alegeh gave the NBA ‘Corporate Image’ which have attracted many private establishments interest in supporting the association’s activities. Okafor listed some of the achievements of Alegeh to include the completion of the NBA National headquarters building in Abuja, the NBA Database exercise that gave impetus to the Stamp Policy which has weeded out quacks from the legal profession. He also identified the insurance cover of up N1 million for lawyers, voter education programme for Nigerians during the 2015 general election, human rights monitoring in the North East, and the reduction in conference fees for members during the 2015 Annual General Conference (AGC) as some of the significant achievements of the administration. Continuing, he said the introduction of NBA Dinner in honour of retired Justices of the Supreme Court will improve relations between the bar and the Bench. “The administration also established relationships with many service providers for the benefit of the welfare of the members of the NBA,” said. Okafor also gave kudos to the past presidents of the association across the different eras which he divided into four” the pre-independence era spanning 1900-1959; the post-independence era from 1960-66; the military era from 1967-1992; and the modern or present era between 1998-to the present.”]]>
