* Rickey Tarfa failed to show up In Lagos Court In His Case Against EFCC Rickey Tarfa, the senior Nigerian lawyer accused of bribing Justice Mohammed Yunus with N225,000, failed to show up in court today at the hearing of the lawsuit he instituted against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for “unlawful” arrest. At the hearing, EFCC counsel Wahab Shittu delivered a shocker in court to show that Tarfa not only lied in his fresh statement of oath claiming the money given to the judge was for his son but that in his six page statement written at the EFCC during his arrest he claimed he was 43 years of age whereas his real age is 54 years. Mr. Tarfa’s massive legal team of nearly 90 senior lawyers dwindled significantly after it was revealed that he was in communication with a federal high court judge while handling a case for a client, and that he gave money to the judge. Mr. Shittu implored the court not to grant Tarfa any reprieve considering that he has continued to lie under oath to federal investigators and to the court. Mr. Tarfa is seeking compensation for the arrest. His legal team, led by Bolaji Ayorinde, also included Muiz Banire, Abiodun Owonikoko and Oluyele Delano. The case was adjourned till March 2nd to decide on fresh applications introduced by Mr. Tarfa. [pdf-embedder url=”https://thenigerialawyer.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/301214499-Untitled.pdf”]]]>
