Aborisade said the PRP was registered on December 3, 2002 as a political party by INEC under Paragraph 15(b), Part 1 of the Third Schedule of the 1999 Constitution. But in an advertorial on December 13, 2012, the electoral body deregistered the party alongside 27 others on the allegations of breach of the provisions of the Electoral Act and the constitution. Aborisade told our correspondent in Lagos that the PRP challenged the commission’s action before Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja, who declared the deregistration as unconstitutional.
