REMOVAL/DESTRUCTION OF ELECTRICITY METER IS A CRIME IN NIGERIA. Since 1983, unlawful removal, disconnection, damage, tampering or interference with any electrical fittings, meter or appliances used for generation, transmission, distribution or sell of electricity in any part of Nigeria, has been a criminal offence. The above offence is punishable with imprisonment for not more than 21 years.
