The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has suspended two pastors following serious allegations of homosexuality against them, according to an internal church memo dated October 28, 2024.
The memo, signed by RCCG National Overseer Sunday Akande, orders a thorough investigation into the allegations. It states that the church’s doctrine firmly prohibits any acts of homosexuality based on biblical teachings in Leviticus 18:22 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.
As a result of the allegations, the accused pastors have been temporarily relieved of all responsibilities within RCCG pending the outcome of the investigation, which is expected to conclude within two weeks. The memo emphasizes handling the situation with care, integrity, confidentiality and respect for all parties involved.
A senior church official, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed the authenticity of the memo to our correspondent. “The case has been on for a while… so sad,” the official remarked, expressing dismay over the turn of events.
