POLICE OFFICERS NOT TO RECEIVE CASH AND OTHER GIFTS. EXCEPTION

In Nigeria, Police officers are prohibited from receiving gifts, either in the shape of money, goods or other personal benefits, except gifts from close personal friends and relatives.

However, if the rejection of such gift will occasion embarrassment to the donor, the gift may be formally accepted and subsequently surrendered to the Accountant General of the Federation.

See Section 354 & 356 of the Police Act.
