Police arraign man over fake N70m voucher in Kano

The police in Kano has arraigned a whistle blower, Ali Maishanu before a magistrate for being in procession of a fake N70 million voucher and using same to blackmail an All Progressive Congress, (APC) presidential aspirant.

The whistle blower was said to have petition office of the President and attached the copy of the purported voucher, as same was given to ICPC for further investigation.

The police accused Abubakar Ali Maishanu, a civil engineer for allegedly circulating a purported payment voucher of Tofa local government in which it accused the local government of misappropriation.

The controversial N70m voucher was said to have been released from the treasury of Tofa local government to sponsored an unidentified presidential aspirant during the last year APC presidential primary in Lagos.

The Tofa local government in its reaction through its lawyer, Adnan Ahmad Esq, filed a complaint to the Kano State Commissioner of Police that led to the arrest of the whistle blower.

However, Ali Maishanu denied the charges before the magistrate when the case came up Wednesday as he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

But the chief magistrate court 6, Audu Bako secretariat, Abba Abubakar Kabara subsequently ordered the police to reinvestigate the case, as he granted bail to the accused and adjourned the case to October 5th for mention.
