All courts in Owerri, Imo state were empty on Tuesday as members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) boycotted sittings.
The action was in obedience to the directive of the national body of the association, in protest against the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.
When our correspondent visited the Owerri High court, all the rooms were empty while security men were politely turning people back.
The NBA chairman in Imo state, Damian Nosike, told our correspondent that the boycott was total and would continue on Wednesday.
He said, “All the branches of NBA in Imo obeyed the order and we will continue tomorrow.”
Nosike said that after the two-day action, further directives would come from the national body.
