The Tribunal headed by Justice Antony Ogar said Akinjo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate was not qualified to fly the party’s flag for the April 11 election. Akinjo was the candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the inconclusive election for the Ilaje/Eseodo federal constituency before he dumped the party for the PDP alongside the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko before the last election. Akinjo was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having scored the highest number of votes in the election. The candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Lucky Ayedatiwa challenged the outcome of the election seeking the nullification of the election. The Tribunal held that he was not duly nominated by the PDP for the election as he was still a member of LP when he contested the election under the platform of the PDP.]]>
