Nwude, alongside two lawyers, namely Emmanuel Ilechukwu and Roland Kalu, were arraigned on March 2, 2018 before Justice Mojisola Dada by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on charges of forgery. They were also accused of tampering with a landed property under a court order. According to the EFCC, the property located at Plot Y, Mobolaji Johnson Street, Oregun, Alausa, Lagos, had already been ordered to be forfeited to the victims of a crime committed by Nwude. The anti-graft agency alleged that Nwude connived with the two lawyers to forge a document, claiming power of attorney to transfer the property to one Mankris Ventures Ltd. The counsel for the EFCC, Nnaemeka Omenwa, explained to the court that the defendants committed the alleged crime on January 12, 2011. The three defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the 15 charges slammed against them. While the two lawyers were granted bail, Justice Dada refused Nwude’s bail application, on the grounds that he was serving a jail term. However, in the petition dated August 3, 2018, addressed to the Chairman of the NJC, Nwude accused Dada of meting out injustice to him in the suit with charge number ID/6407C/17. The petitioner alleged in the petition that rather than granting him bail, Justice Dada rejected his application for bail thrice.]]>
