The Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) said the institute has delisted some corrupt bankers from its membership base.

The President and Chairman of the NIM, Mrs Patience Anabor, stated this at the inauguration of NIM members at the University of Abuja on Tuesday.

Anabor didn’t give names of the bankers delisted from its membership database.

According to her, the institute is at liberty to delist corrupt members from its database once they (members) are found guilty.

“If we catch any corrupt member, we are at liberty to delist the member and we have done so,” the NIM president said.

Anabor added: “If you look at the corrupt bankers that were convicted – I won’t mention names now but we delisted them. They were fellows of the institute but we sanctioned them.

“We are not afraid to sanction our members and in that way, we intend to keep what we say and what we do.

“Corruption is not the only problem we have in Nigeria but when we do things the right way the level of corruption will reduce. Our goal is to make sure that Nigeria and Nigerians have a better way of living.”

The president said the institute had been doing its best to preach transparency, rule of law, discipline and best practice to both members and non-members in the country.

She called on the members to promote the ideals of management practice and discipline for the development of the country.

Vice – Chancellor of the university, Prof Abdulrasheed Na’Allah, represented by Dr Abubakar Aliyu, called on the members to obey laid down rules and regulations for the development of the country.

He said the members should build a culture of discipline and service to Nigeria and upgrade their service to society for national development.

Also, the NIM University of Abuja chapter chairman, Professor Yusuf Zoaka, said the inauguration of the UniAbuja chapter will help members to build good culture and commit to the country to good moral and professional conduct.
