Dubbed Nigeria’s oldest prisoner, Pa Celestine Egbunuche, has celebrated his 100th year birthday inside the Enugu Maximum Prison. Egbunuche from Akokwa, Imo State, celebrated a century year on planet earth on Saturday 4 August 2018. The centenarian was sentenced to death along with his son, Paul, and another relation, now 87, after a man died in a fight over a piece of land. The convicts have already spent over 17 years in the prison. However, an NGO, Global Society for Anti-corruption is pushing for the centenarian’s release. Egbunuche is said to have suffered from diabetes over the years. GSAC has appealed to the FG and Governor Rochas Okorocha to use their board of mercy and release him, his 78 years old relation and son from prison.]]>
