Adeyeye, who is the Senate Chief Whip, spoke after the Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, had presented the 2019 appropriation bill to the state House of Assembly in Osogbo. The lawmaker also said regardless of the party or person controlling government at the centre, if politicians failed to adhere strictly to financial discipline, many of them might end up in penury. He urged members of the state House of Assembly to lay a strong foundation for probity and accountability. Adeyeye added, “There is too much rascality in our national politics and it is not good for us as a nation. “Regardless of who wins or the party in power, if we fail to be prudent in the way we allocate resources, in the next 10 years, we will run into a big crisis. Many people in the national politics live lives they cannot sustain. “Every year, figures will be manufactured and that will be called budget. There is no magic in this thing. Money that you don’t have, you cannot spend.” Meanwhile, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Adejare Bello, has urged Adeyeye to prevail on his colleagues at the National Assembly to desist from engaging in act capable of giving the nation a bad image. He said the act put up by the lawmakers during President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 budget presentation was condemnable. Bello called for respect among arms of government in the country in the interest of the country.]]>
