The Assembly suspended its standing order to pave way for a first timer to emerge speaker.

The member representing Bida 1 Constituency, Honorable Bako Kasim Alfa was nominated and uniamously elected as the Deputy Speaker.

Speaking after his formal inauguration, the new speaker thanked his colleagues for deeming him worthy to lead them, while promising to justify the confidence reimposed in him.

He promised that the 9th Assembly will cooperate with the executive in taking the state high in the development index adding that there will not be acrimony and unwarranted rancour between the three arms of government.

He also promised to ensure the enactment of laws that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people, while equally pledging to accelerate the passage of executive and private member bills.
