This came to light on Saturday during the dedication of St. Lawrence Chapel built by Senator Uche Ekwunife in Awka. The event was attended by notable politicians from the South East including Governors Rochas Okorocha and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Imo and Enugu states, former Governor Peter Obi, Senator Chris Ngige and others. Ekwunife said when she was called upon to give vote of thanks by the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, who celebrated Mass before the dedication, that Ngige gave her his forms so she could reclaim her mandate which was given by her people but which “was stolen by the judiciary. “I am going to reclaim my mandate given to me by my people. Ngige gave the forms I filled. He gave me his forms. Ngige is here. I am going to reclaim my mandate in Jesus name,” she bellowed. Ekwunife and Ngige are from the same senatorial district. In an interview after the ceremony, Ekwunife maintained that her loss of the senatorial seat at the appeal tribunal was a robbery which amounted to judicial rascality. Justifying another attempt to contest in the senatorial elections in 2019, she claimed, “My people asked me to come out and they will vote for me. “It is no longer about party. It is about the person, so I have come out to reclaim the mandate stolen from me by the judiciary.” “Ngige feels I am the most qualified to run. As a leader he felt that I am the most qualified person, the right person, the most sagacious person. That was what prompted him to give me that form. “I am prepared, over prepared and qualified to reclaim the mandate because Victor Umeh is not representing us well because it is not just going there to talk. It is about saying something that would bring project to your people,” she stated.]]>
