NIGERIA’S Aviation unions will tomorrow lead the workers of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on an indefinite industrial action.
The action is coming after the expiration of the seven days ultimatum given to the federal government over what they called anti-workers’ interest in the newly approved organogram of the Authority.
The Aviation unions, comprising National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP), and National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), gave the ultimatum last week after paralysingly activities at the NCAA headquarters at the Murtala Muhammed Airport.
In a statement issued yesterday by the unions, they accused the NCAA of only reacting half-heartedly to the demands raised about the organogram.
A circular issued by the unions yesterday declared: “Having therefore exhausted all efforts and patience on the issues, and left with no other option, our unions hereby direct all staff of NCAA nationwide to commence an indefinite industrial action with effect from Wednesday, 22nd, May 2019.”
