NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION, YOUNG LAWYERS’ FORUM, ILORIN ONE (1) DAY SEMINAR AS APPROVED BY THE EXECUTIVE ON this 18th day of May, 2018 1.0 INTRODUCTION The Nigerian Bar Association, Young Lawyers Forum (Ilorin Bar) comprises young, vibrant and eloquent members of the Bar within 0–7 years post call. They are young minds at the Bar with zeal and will to learn, develop and impact positively. The Forum, in her wisdom deems it fit to organize a one day Seminar that will bring the like minds to a round table discussion to discuss topical legal and national issues in a bid to participate in Nation Building and at the same time, satisfying the requirements of Continuing Legal Education. The program is designed to build the Young Lawyers, the Bar and the Nation at large. The topic shall be broadly discussed and recommendations shall be drawn and forwarded to relevant institutions and government agencies, where necessary. 2.0 THE PROGRAM The program is a seminar in form of a round table discussion and designed to be a continuous program to be held annually. In this maiden edition, the Forum has carefully selected a contemporary legal topic, that is “VETO POWER: Separation of Powers, and The Role of The Judiciary in a Democratic Dispensation” with a view to proposing recommendations that will broaden the horizon of the Young Lawyers and prepare them for leadership and Nation Building. The program will be anchored in a very interactive manner where audience and the speakers will be fully engaged. 3.0 SPEAKERS/GUESTS Our Speakers and Guests shall be drawn from Eminent Bar Leaders, Professionals, Political Leaders and Renowned Scholars. The Key Note Speakers shall be: -Paul Usoro, SAN -Femi Falana; SAN, -Prof Ernest Ojukwu; SAN, -Chief Arthur Obi Okafor; SAN -Mazi Afam Osigwe Esq, Senator Babafemi Ojudu; (Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters), -Hon Justice S. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kwara State; 4.0 AUDIENCE The major audience shall include members of the Nigerian Bar Association, hundreds of Young Lawyers within and outside jurisdictions, members of the Kwara State Judiciary, Societies and Political Leaders, members of the Press amongst others. 5.0 VENUE The program shall hold at the newly commissioned NBA HOUSE, HIGH COURT PREMISES ALONG LANJORIN ROAD, ILORIN KWARA STATE. 6.0 CHIEF HOST AND HOST The Chief Host shall be the Branch Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Manzuma Issa Esq and the host shall be the Chairman of the Young Lawyers Forum, Ilorin, O.D Jimoh Esq. 7.0 DATE The date of the program is slated for 21st June, 2018. 8.0 TIME AND DURATION The program starts at 10am (prompt) and shall last for Four (4) hours. The first two (2) hours shall involve deliberations by the speakers and the last 2 hours shall accommodate question and answer session/ feedback by the audience . 9.0 ANCHORS There shall be two anchors to include a professional presenter and a member of the YLF, Ilorin Bar. 10.
