The NBA Lagos Branch 2017 Election Committee is organizing a Manifesto Day for candidates seeking election into the vacant offices in the NBA Lagos Branch Executive Committee.

The Manifesto Day will feature presentations by the respective candidates and a Chairmanship Debate for Chairmanship candidates which will be powered by Ask a Lawyer Forum.

Manifesto Day is the day candidates who seek election into the Branch’s executive committee present their manifesto to colleagues and members of the branch.

With the theme “Enhancing Legal Practice”, Chairmanship candidates will engage each other in debate to address issues that are of paramount importance to members of the Branch. According to Ask a lawyer Convener, Imran Shitta-Bey, this will not only help members learn about the position of candidates on such issues but also help members gauge the suitability of candidates for the exalted office of Chairman.

Inspired by the US presidential debate, the Chairmanship debate will be in 4 segments of 15 minutes each. Each segment will focus on an issue germane to legal practice. Candidates will each present their position on such issue and thereafter engage each other in open debate. The debate will end with closing remarks from the candidates (3 minutes), who would each highlight why they believe they are best suited for the job.

Manifesto Day comes up today Friday 14th July, 2017 at 2 pm at the Lagos High Court Foyer and commences with presentation by candidates for the other offices up for election. The Branch election itself comes up on Monday 17th, July, 2017.
