The attention of the Nigerian Bar Association has been drawn to the viral video of some members of the Nigerian Police assaulting one Kunle Karimu,Esq a Legal Practitioner at the law firm of Oluyomi Olawore & Co., situate at Itiku House, 5th floor, Macarthy Street, Onikan, Lagos. In the video, Kunle Karimu, Esq.assaulted by being assaulted by armed officers of the Nigeria Police who were alleged to have been acting on the instruction of Oluyomi Olawore,Esq., the Principal Partner of Oluyomi Olawore & Co. and also the former Principal of the young lawyer. The NBA expresses its dissatisfaction to the manner of alleged assault meted on the young Lawyer by officers of the Police as this is an infringement on Section 34 of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, which provides for the right of dignity of human person allegedly on the instruction of Oluyomi Olawore Esq which is in breach of Rules 26(1) of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2007. In view of the foregoing, the NBA has taken necessary steps to investigate the matter and hereby assures all our members that the matter will be followed to conclusion and appropriate sanctions will be meted out to anyone found to be liable.
