In a press statement jointly signed by the NLC chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adeka and his Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart, Comrade Danladi Namo, the organized labour in the state said their action was in compliance with the agreement reached betweenthe unions, government, minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige. It stated that government has also honoured its part of the agreement by reverting to the old salary structure. It would be recalled that workers in the state embarked on the industrial action to protest the downward review of their salaries by government as a result of economic downturn. The statement read in part: “That payment of shortfall of the proposed new salary structure and the old salary structure for the months of May and June, 2016has commenced with effect from Wednesday, 7th September to Friday, 9th September, 2016”. The organized labour also stated that the issue of July and August salaries shall be addressed as the negotiations continue. “All workers are therefore directed to resume work immediately and that there shall be no victimization of any worker or employee arising from his or her participation in the strike in the state or matters ancillary thereto” the state read.]]>
