The Judge, Hassan Ishaq, ordered the accused to produce a reliable surety who must have fixed address and resident within the FCT. Ishaq said that the surety must submit his National identity card or driver’s licence with the registry of the court. Earlier, Prosecutor Habila Jonathan told the court that the defendant was intercepted by the police when he was driving a Golf 3 wagon with registration SUY770QR. Jonathan said the accused was arrested by a team of policemen on patrol while on a routine stop and search at POWA house junction, Nyanyan, Abuja, on Feb, 7. He said the defendant could not produce the particulars of the vehicle to prove its ownership. The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 319 (A) of the Penal Code.
