LPDC Suspends Jos Based Lawyer, Usman Mohammed Saidu For Signing Affidavit For Client

The Legal Practitioner’s Disciplinary Committee has once again exercised its disciplinary functions on another erring legal practitioner.

Mr. Usman Mohammed Saidu, a Jos based Legal Practitioner has just been suspended for 24 months by the disciplinary body after he admitted signing an affidavit on behalf of his client as if, it were the client that did the signing.

The direction of the committee is based on the ground that the act of the lawyer is against the ethos and ethics of the noble profession.

TheNigerialawyer recalls that just yesterday, a Bayelsa State based legal practitioner, J.T. Abeokuta had his name struck off the Roll of Legal Practitioners in Nigeria.

The recent directions of the disciplinary body indicate that there is absolutely no room for compromise so far the protection of the ethics of the profession is concerned.
