To this end, security operatives have been mandated to go all out in the metropolis and arrest anyone found operating without license and authorization from the state Lotteries Board. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lagos State Lotteries Board, Lanre Gbajabiamila, insisted that the board remains the only statutory regulatory body for lottery and related activities in Lagos State. Gbajabiamila explained the board was established by the Lagos State Lotteries Law 2004 (as amended) and is authorized to license and regulate gaming activities conducted within Lagos State. Over 50 people have been arrested and prosecuted in the past by the Lotteries Board for engaging in illegal Lottery operations in the state. The Chief Executive Officer further said that Lagos State Lotteries Board neither issue nor recognizes ‘sports lottery license/permit’ or ‘promotional lottery permits’ by whatsoever name called for operations within Lagos State. He, therefore, warned members of the public against patronizing operators that have not obtained license from the board.]]>
