I am so infuriated that I almost could not read through the entire literal gabbage before reacting as it smacks of claming credit for what you did not do, or at best participated minimally and for which you were gratified.
I do not know Livingstone Stone from Adams but in the course of my dogged fight to re-open the Courts, I came to know him and some other members of the Integrity Group like Meshack Uyi.
Though officially a Pagan, I equally attended the Service of Songs at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Garrison, Port-Harcourt and when I heard the particular portion of the Biography Livingstone Wechie is referring to, I smiled a smile of consolation and comforted my self that my Lawyer’s Lawyer, Emmanuel Chinwe Aguma, SAN lived a worthwhile life in service to God and Humanity. My dilenma then became why this disrepect and disparaging of the late Honourable Attorney General by Livingstone Wechie?
I was personally shocked to know at some point into the present Governor Wike ’s administration that Livingstone Wechie was not even a Legal Practitioner as he has always misrepresented to the public, so how will he be claiming glories of victories of Legal Battles? From the moment Rt. Hon. Chibuike Ameachi appointed Justice Agumagu as the Acting Chief Judge, which was the Genesis of the “supposed JUSON Strike” and the closure of the court, I, as a Lawyer fresly called to the Bar (2012), filed an Action in the name of 1. BOMA GOODHEAD 2. AJENYANATE SAMUEL 3. KENGEMA UNITY FORUM Vs THE RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT AND OTHERS. Rt. Hon. Rotimi Ameachi, then as Governor, promptly engaged the services of five (5) SANs, amongst a retinue of other very Senior Lawyers like the then Director of Civil Litigation, Emenike Ebete, amongst others.
Seeing that I had a good case but was disadvantaged in terms of appearances, Governor Wike, then as a Supervising Minister, engaged an SAN to lead me for the address. The then Hon Attorney General of the Federation also engaged the now late E. C. Aguma; Esq to represent him. That’s how I met the late Honourable Attorney General and to cut long stories short we won the case.
I never knew who Livingstone Wechie was. Then Governor Ameachi, in an attempt to short circuit the benefits of our victory, purported to appoint Justice Agumagu as the Substantive Chief Judge of Rivers State, and I filed another suit in the aforesaid names. The late E. C. Aguma; Esq, as he then was, also initiated another suit in the name of Barr George Ariolu Vs Rivers State Government and Others. Ukala, SAN was George Ariolu’s lead Counsel while the late E. C Aguma still represented the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation. In all these cases that spanned months, I have never met or knew Livingstone Wechie.
The case referred to by Livingstone Wechie, though it may have been filed, but was never a notorious or star case in the struggle to re-open the Courts, and every litigant in Federal High Court, Port-Harcourt, then knew because from morning till night, and because of the number of Learned Silks involved, the Judge will adjourn all other cases and only these two cases will be argued. There was no Livingstone Wechie any where.
Livingstone Wechie and Integrity Group became popular with the No. 25 Trans Amadi set of cases involving the sale of Rivers State’s Assets by then Governor Ameachi to his cronies in Sahara Energy. However, Livingstone Wechie quickly capitulated and, if I know Rt. Hon CRA well, Livingstone Wechie may be facing a Defamation Charge soon, and very soon!
All in all, please, Livingstone Wechie should let the memories of my Lawyer’s Lawyer, the Honourable Attorney General of Rivers State and Commissioner for Justice, E. C. Aguma, SAN to rest in peace, or some of us who hold our meetings with the late HAG and cheerish it now that he is no more will go to a War Words!
Alabo Hon. Barr. Surv. Tubotamuno A. Dick; J.P. (The Onowu of Oproama).
