LIST OF ALLOWANCES PAYABLE TO FAMILY MEMBERS OF DECEASED FORMER PRESIDENTS/HEADS OF STATE OR VICE-PRESIDENTS OF NIGERIA.
Being a President or Vice President of Nigeria, is an enormous task but comes with so many benefits. In Nigeria, members of families of a deceased former Head of State/President of Nigeria are entitled to payment of the sum of #1,000,000.00 yearly payable quarterly in installments of #250,000.00. While members of families of deceased Vice-Presidents are entitled to #750,000.00 every year payable quarterly in installments of #187,500.00.
The above allowances are for the up-keep of their spouses and education of their children up to University level. Note that any spouse of a former Head of State, President or Vice-President that remarries is not entitled to the allowances mentioned above.
My authorities are sections 2 and 6 of the Remuneration of Former Presidents and Heads of State (and other Ancillary Matters) Act, 1999.
