The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kazeem Adeniji, gave the charge at the inaugural sitting of the tribunal. Adeniji charged the tribunal members to be fearless and ensure that everybody has a chanceā€Ž to give their suggestions. In a related development, two persons, Alhaji Tajudeen Jegede, 68 and Chief Kayode Raufu, 60, who were among the 17 suspects remanded by an Ebute-Metta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over the alleged killing of Disu, have been discharged by the court. The two persons were discharged after the prosecution led by Mr. Cyril Ejiofor, from Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Panti-Yaba, informed the court that they were exonerated by the investigation conducted by the police. Also, the court admitted 15 suspects arrested in connection with the killing of the FTZ’s managing director to bail. Those admitted to bail were Saidi Akanni, 41; Raufu Agunreje, 31; Sunday Bulus, 30; Taiwo Oyelade, 21; Abiola Ogunsanwo, 20. Others included Stephen Okuriaye, 20; Taiwo Gafar, 38; Banji Agunrege, 37; Ahmed Gafar, 25; Moses Okoro, 30, Talabi Onadri, 43; Ipaye Oriyomi, 25; Yusuf Quadri, 23; ‘Lord Lugard,’ 32 and Anthony Agbogie, 30. The 15 accused persons were arraigned before the Chief Magistrate, Afolashade Botoku, on a six-count charge bordering on rioting and unlawful assembly. The police alleged that the 15 accused persons had, on October 12, at about 9.00 a.m. conspired among themselves to commit the alleged act. The accused persons, who are mostly fishermen, technicians and okada riders, pleaded not guilty to the charges. Consequently, the Chief Magistrate admitted them to bail in the sum of N50,000, with one surety each. The court thereafter adjourned till December 21. However, the court ordered the remand of three other men and a woman in prison over the alleged killing. Those ordered to be remanded were Jaiye Dele, 40; Tunde Ismaila, 27; Shakirat Agbaje, 40 and Oshinowo Olalekan, 30.
