Egbedi, who practices in the Aelex Law Firm, Ikoyi, has asked the court to award damages for the teeth injury sustained by her during an anointing service at the National Stadium, Lagos, which was organised by the Chapel of Liberty also known as the Voice of Liberty Ministries in the following sum: N1.4 million being special damages, N20 million being general damages and N1 million being the cost of completing her medical treatment when she fell into a gutter during the event. Egbedi had instituted the suit No. LD/359/2011 against Reverend Chris Kwakpovwe and joined the Registered Trustees of the Chapel of Liberty with the clergy, who is also the publisher of Our Daily Manna, as defendants. But at the resumed hearing of the matter, Kwakpovwe, through his lawyer, Anthony Mukoro, told Justice Candid-Johnson under cross-examination that the claimant might have conspired with others in other to obtain money from him, taking advantage of the benevolence of the church. Kwakpovwe also added that there were about 12,000 to 15,000 people that came for the crusade, which was held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium. According to him, the event was well organized such that there was adequate control for the thousands of people that came. He urged the court to dismiss the suit brought by Egbedi, stating that she is a gold digger wanting to reap from where she did not sow. The matter has been adjourned the matter till October 17.]]>
