Represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Folashade Ayoade Arike at the LOC inauguration, the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, said he approved the hosting of the competition in line with the request from the Chief Justice of the Federation of Nigeria. The governor noted that the event will not only boost commercial activities in Lokoja, the state capital, but would also go a long way in boosting sports across the 21 local councils of the state. Bello urged LOC members and the people of the state to showcase Kogi as a peaceful abode for investors throughout the weeklong tourney.He appreciated the good job of the practicing journalists in the state in ensuring balanced reportage of government’s policies and programmes. The governor also admonished working journalists in the state to sustain their cordial relationship with the present administration, urging them to continue to embrace the spirit of developmental journalism in the discharge of their duties. The committee has the state’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Comrade Arome Adoji, as chairman.Other members of the committee are Eseyin Adeola, Kingsley Fanwo, M. Omapariola, A Abubakar, Coach Sunday Daku, Memeyin Olatunji, Ogazuma David, Mrs. Catherine Obalola and Maximilian Tashilani.
