Being a crusader against corruption, I immediately started interviewing lawyers (private and public), judges, magistrates and everyone who knew, appeared before, worked or even heard about JG. One thing was clear….He is not a CORRUPT judge. Then what could possibly move the NJC to make such a decision? THE ACCUSATION: Trying to find out what the details of the accusations are, is still ongoing. The delay in reading and or delivering a judgement for that long maybe considerably damning but not unusual perhaps in the circumstances if one where to investigate the possible causes such as; the way lawyers conduct their cases, registrars and support staff interferences/compromises, other extraneous circumstances that we see everyday that leads to a judge not sitting etc. While not totally exonerating JG of any fault on his part, I have seen worse misconducts by a judicial officer in my 15years of practice going unpunished not even a slap on the wrist. THE APPEAL: I call on all lawyers in Lagos, through your respective NBA Branches to stand by this incorruptible judge. Move your chairmen to write to the NJC, The Governor of Lagos State and the Hon. CJ of Lagos to keep JG on the bench. We need his experience, his patience, his sensitivity, his mediation skills and his pastoral calling which reinforces his work as a judge. Thank you. Signed: Bayo Akinlade Secretary, NBA Ikorodu Branch (2012 – 2014) and National Convener of FIGHT CORRUPTION IN THE JUDICIARY.]]>
