The theme is: “Emerging Developments in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Sector: International Law Responses, Policy Issues and Adaptability.” ILA Nigeria, like global parent body, is committed to the study, clarification and development of international law, both public and private, and the furtherance of international understanding and respect for international law. It also examines problems of local origins and international impact and fashions out collective and international law responses to them. According to a release issued by the Nigerian branch of ILA, this year’s conference is organized by ILA Nigeria’s Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Environment, chaired by Prof Yinka Omorogbe, in collaboration with the International Institute for Petroleum Energy Law and Policy (IIPELP). It also stated that Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu would be expected to deliver a goodwill message to kick-start the main proceedings of the conference, while the keynote lecturer will also deliver by Prof Catherine Redgwell. A group of eminent panelists will provide domestic and comparative perspectives on innovative laws and policies for addressing sustainability challenges facing the Nigerian oil and gas sector.
