NBA President, Paul Usoro,

President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Paul Usoro, SAN, has debunked the report making the round that he was walked out of the NJC meeting that was called on to discuss the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Walter Onnoghen.

According to him, he was there with the other NBA Reps up to the point that NJC had to consider the Petitions at which point they, had to leave the meeting in compliance with the constitutional stipulation that excludes NBA reps from the meeting when disciplinary issues are considered by the NJC.

“This morning’s report about my being walked out of NJC meeting or leaving the meeting venue no sooner the meeting started is 100% untrue.

”I was there with the other NBA Reps up to the point that NJC had to consider the Petitions at which point we, the NBA reps had to leave the meeting in compliance with the constitutional stipulation that excludes NBA reps from the meeting when disciplinary issues are considered by the NJC. Before then, I fully (and I mean, fully) briefed NJC on the NBA stand & position & Council was most appreciative. I was actually the last of the NBA reps to leave the meeting,” he said.

TheNigerialawyer (TNL) recalls that there has been a report on social media outlets, that the NBA was walked out of the NJC meeting. A report earlier published by TNL also shows that Mr. Usoro had debunked the rumour for being untrue, claiming that he had left the meeting after talking permission from the Council to attend to other matters.
