Huawei Technologies Company Nigeria Limited has invested 10 per cent of its sales revenue in research and development in the past 10 years, its Internet Provider Chief Technology Officer (Southern Africa), Matamela Mashau, has said.

According to him, research and development had remained core strength to continuous innovation and competitive advantage of the company.

Mashau stated these in Abuja during the company’s annual IP Club Technology seminar with the theme: ‘Rethink IP 2019,’ where it also launched the latest Wi-Fi 6 innovation in Nigeria and hosted over 150 customers and partners.

The global annual IP club event brought together ICT industry experts across public and private sectors to discuss network solutions for business development.

While speaking on Huawei’s enterprise network solutions, Mashau touched on the company’s investment profile.

He said, “Huawei Technologies has invested over 10 per cent of sales revenue in research and development over the last 10 years. And the Huawei’s global resources are channelled to local operations to better serve its customers.”

The Enterprise IP Manager, Huawei Nigeria, Alan Jin, discussed Huawei’s cloud campus solutions describing them as “intent-driven.”

“The full lifecycle of Huawei’s cloud management reduces operating expense by 80 per cent,” he said.

The Group Head, Business Development, Galaxy Backbone Limited, one of Huawei’s partners, Abdul-Malik Suleiman, commended Huawei for its continuous support over the past 10 years and highlighted the company’s responsiveness, innovation and client service structure.

Suleiman said, “Huawei enabled Galaxy Backbone build the first and only Tier 3 data centre in Nigeria and expand its metro fibre from Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to other states in the country.”

The Head of ICT in Nigerian Prisons Service, Felix Agada, shared the history of digitisation for the NPS and commended Huawei Technologies for its partnership.

He said “Huawei has enabled the NPS enjoy full connection and database management. Today, we can confidently and remotely identify all inmates across the country while granting them effective access to justice. Before, it took three months to collate the full database of the institution.”

The Wi-Fi 6 which is said to be the latest and fastest in terms of speed and digital transformation, was launched in Nigeria at the event by the Solutions Sales Director, Huawei Nigeria Enterprise, Mr. Eason Dong.
