The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Abubakar had on Jan. 6 presented a budget of N135.3 billion to the state House of Assembly for the 2016 fiscal year. Abubakar, while signing the budget, said that the budget had N64.89 billion as current expenditure and N70.4 billion as capital expenditure. He said that the economic sector has the highest percentage of N31.28 billion followed by the social sector which was allocated N26.73 billion. Abubakar assured that his administration would implement the budget judiciously to ensure financial discipline. He said that the budget was formulated towards improving the lives of citizens through improvement in healthcare delivery system, provision of water and qualitative education as well as infrastructure. The governor commended members of the state assembly for the speedy passage of the budget which indicate that their concerns for the yearnings and aspirations of the electorate. “I am happy to observe that the honourable House had speedily deliberated on the proposal and accordingly passed it into law,” he said.
