The governor said the law had taken care of almost all the needs of the physically challenged in the state, which he said included giving them empowerment, providing them with professional skills to participate in building and other jobs. Speaking while signing the bill into law at the Government House, Governor Ganduje said his cabinet was concerned about the conditions of the physically- challenged persons. He said the law would give physically-challenged persons open opportunity to professionally design buildings and even participate in construction works and other professional jobs. Ganduje said the new law also gave parents the opportunity to enroll their physically challenged children into school and stop them from begging on the streets so that they would become useful to themselves. In the same vein, the government promised to come up with a social security system that would enable physically-challenged children who could not do anything to receive allowances monthly. “What we are doing is to bring physically challenged persons under government care through either social security or by providing them with professional skills to have jobs for themselves.”]]>
