An Osogbo High Court, on June 3, ruled in favour of allowing female Muslim students wear Hijab in all public primary and secondary schools in Osun State.
The judgment followed a legal battle between the state’s muslim community and the state government over a ban on religious apparels in public schools.
The judge, Justice Jide Falola, ruled that any act of molestation, harassment, torture and humiliation against female Muslim students using Hijab in school premises is a breach of their fundamental rights.
Mr. Folala based his ruling on Section 38 of the Nigerian Constitution.
The judgement sparked huge controversy in the state.
The christian community reacted by goading christian kids to wear church garments to public schools.
We have obtained a copy of the judgement, and sharing it below for your perusal and keeps.
