Nigerian veteran rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem has claimed that his Facebook and Instagram accounts were abruptly suspended by Meta shortly after he released his latest track, “Open Letter to Donald Trump”, on November 30, 2025.

Speaking to newsmen, Abdulkareem expressed frustration, saying, “Facebook just suspended my Facebook and Instagram account because of my new song, Open Letter to Donald Trump. I can’t access it.” Independent checks by the outlet confirmed that both profiles were inaccessible at the time of reporting.

The track, released under Abdulkareem’s label Lakreem Entertainment, is a fiery protest anthem that rails against corruption, rampant insecurity, and systemic misgovernance in Nigeria. Although framed as an open letter to United States President Donald Trump, urging him to draw global attention to Nigeria’s challenges, its real criticism is directed at Nigeria’s political elite, whom Abdulkareem describes as “criminals of all shades and hues” who enrich themselves while citizens suffer. The lyrics highlight brutal realities such as kidnappings, terrorism, and killings that have left many Nigerians living in fear.

This is not Abdulkareem’s first encounter with controversy. The 48-year-old has long challenged Nigerian authorities through his music:

  • 2004: “Jaga Jaga” – A scathing critique of corruption and poverty that was banned from airwaves by the administration of then-President Olusegun Obasanjo.
  • April 2025: “Tell Your Papa” – Banned by the National Broadcasting Commission for what it described as objectionable lyrics deemed unfit for broadcast, following a memo issued by NBC’s Coordinating Director Susan Obi that prohibited radio and television stations from airing the song nationwide.

Abdulkareem’s work continues to reflect the frustrations of millions in Nigeria, where economic hardship, insecurity, and elite impunity fuel growing public discontent. By invoking Trump, a figure known for his polarizing global presence, the rapper uses international symbolism to demand accountability and amplify Nigeria’s struggles.
