The Government of Ekiti State yesterday in Ado Ekiti at a well-attended ceremony presented the first volume of the Ekiti State Palace Court Judgements.
Speaking at the event the States Attorney-General, Olawale Fapohunda said by the publication the Ekiti State had recorded another first in the administration of justice in Nigeria.
According to Fapohunda, “The Publication of Ekiti State Palace Court Judgments is novel and is an important step in bringing justice to our people specifically those in our rural communities. For these communities, palace courts are the first point of contact with the justice system”
He further stressed that by publishing judgments of palace courts, the state will respond to concerns about transparency and quality of decisions coming from the court.
Volume 1 of the Ekiti State Palace Court Judgements includes thirty judgements from palace courts across the state. The publication is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Justice, Ekiti State and Law Pavilion.
