In a statement to mark the Eid el-Fitr festivity, the renowned arbitrator said: “On the occasion of Eid el-Fitr celebrations to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan, I urge my Muslim colleagues and all Nigerians to show brotherly love and work towards the growth and advancement of Nigeria.” According to Gadzama who is also a Life Bencher, “Nigeria is a great country with immense potentials. However, we must join hands with government to combat corruption and waste. Nigeria needs all its patriotic citizens now more than ever before when the country is going through challenges especially on economic and security fronts.” The pioneer chairman of NBA Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL) warned that unless all Nigerians “join hands in brotherhood and love” to confront the nation’s challenges, “We all risk being in the woods for a period longer than necessary,” adding that the fall in oil prices “must compel every citizen to put on our thinking caps on how we can help our motherland.” Gadzama who is in a pole position to clinch the NBA presidency following his recent adoption by the Arewa Lawyers Forum (ALF) as its sole candidate for the elections as well as his endorsement by virtually all the pillars of the Bar, noted that lawyers have a unique role to play in nation-building. His words: “This season also offers us an opportunity to reflect on the future of the legal profession. The forthcoming NBA Elections is yet another occasion for Nigerian lawyers to exhibit the highest level of patriotism and professionalism. Consistent with the NBA motto of promoting the rule of law, the elections offer our noble association a unique opportunity to show that we can get it right in Nigeria, moreso as this is the first time electronic voting will be conducted on a very large scale in Nigeria. I urge my muslim colleagues and indeed all Nigerian lawyers to participate actively in the electoral process.” Gadzama, a former chairman of NBA Abuja Branch, prayed for peaceful Sallah celebrations that enables all Nigerians to benefit fully from the blessings of the Ramadan fasting.]]>
