Making this remark yesterday in Abuja, former chairman of Ijumu local government area of Kogi State, Chief Fehinti Dada, also urged the commission to investigate activities of other senior lawyers especially at the election petition tribunals. The politician, who also served as the campaign manager of Senator Smart Adeyemi in the March 28 2015 general election, then on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before he defected to the All Progressives Congress(APC) said that the ruling of the election petitions tribunal and the court of appeal as it affects Senator Adeyemi’s election was confounding. He expressed dismay that whereas the election of two of the three senators representing Kogi senatorial districts were nullified based on the strength of the document presented by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), that of Kogi West, which Senator Adeyemi contested was upheld. He also said that the judges that rejected the appeal of Senator Adeyemi made curious ruling especially going by the fact that a recount of the votes had given Senator Adeyemi more than 6,000 votes lead. He said: “The searchlight on lawyers and their activities in Nigeria is something I want to commend EFCC greatly for. And in the case of Ricky Tarfa, I want to appeal to EFCC not to limit the searchlight to some of the cases. It should probeall cases involving Barrister Ricky Tarfa, especially the election petitions case between Senator Smart Adeyemi and Senator Dino Melaye. He was the lawyer to Senator Dino Melaye. The kind of confidence that their group exhibited at the tribunal gave us a lot of worry. ]]>
