The new chairman of the forum, Ambassador Chris Onwueme, speaking at a press conference in Abuja today said the forum discovered that Kpokpogri had been using the organization to intimidate the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AITEO Group of Companies, Mr. Benedict Peters‎. While announcing the suspension of Kpokpogri from the Forum, Onwueme said the incident of Kpokpogri using his office to write a letter to Peters appeared to be a deliberate attempt to intimidate the chairman and make him vulnerable to extortion. Onwueme said, “the letter purportedly written to Mr. Benedict Peters by our association dated 28th November, 2017 with the caption: ‘Proposed massive protest to compel EFCC to issue an Interpol arrest warrant on Benedict Peters to appear before it to answer allegations of massive fraud in the crude oil swap and offshore processing agreement between NNPC and AITEO’ was covertly written without the consent and approval of the Forum as there was never a decision taken to that effect by the Forum.” He said the forum remain committed to the anti-corruption war led by President Muhammadu Buhari and would do everything to salvage the country from the firm grip of corruption.]]>
