Senator Gershom Bassey, representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District at the Senate, has confessed at the election petitions tribunal sitting in Calabar that he lost election at his electoral unit, ward and local government council but won at the zone.

Speaking under cross examination at the tribunal, yesterday, in a case brought against him by Senator Bassey Otu of the Labour Party (LP), Gershom said he won the election in Calabar Municipality, Calabar South, Bakassi, Akpabuyo, Odukpani, Akamkpa and Biase.

Counsel to Senator Otu, Mr. Essien Andrew (Esqr), said there were controversies surrounding the election in Biase and Akamkpa which paved the way for Senator Gershom to win.

However, after all parties presented their witnesses, the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Christopher Awubra, adjourned the case to September 29 for submission of written addresses.
