Over 800 persons reportedly subscribed to the housing scheme, which was expected to be executed by Ogunwusi’s firm. It was learnt that five years after the subscribers committed money to the scheme, the property had not been delivered to them, leading to a court case. Twenty-six of the subscribers, who initiated the court case, are seeking a refund of their money. Apart from Ogunwusi, the court equally summoned NAWOJ’s President and National Treasurer, Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowole and Mrs Tosin Odusola, respectively as well as the immediate past NUJ Chairman, Lagos State Council, Mr Deji Elumoye. It was learnt that Omowole, with the support of Odusola and Elumoye, floated the mass housing scheme, first for female journalists; later both males and females; and much later all interested Nigerians. The court summons dated April 1, 2019, indicated that the respondents are to appear before the judge on April 10 at 2pm “to give reasons for their refusal to submit.” It was learnt that the matter was initially fixed for March, but the respondents, through their lawyer, pleaded for a change of hearing date till April, promising that their clients would be available.]]>
