The Federal High Court sitting in Uyo has on Thursday dismissed a suit seeking to redeploy the Akwa Ibom Resident Electoral Commission(REC), Mr. Mike Igini away from the state.
In the suit marked “FHC/UY/CS/44/19” filed by Stanley Okpara, the plaintiff prayed the court to make an order for the removal of Mr. Mike Igini from Akwa Ibom State.
Justice F.O. Riman in his ruling struck out the suit on the ground of abuse of court process after the attention of the court was drawn to a similar application filed by the same plaintiff and counsel in Abuja.
The Judge deprecated the attitude of counsel for the plaintiff who filed a similar suit in Abuja asking for the same reliefs as the one he filed in Uyo.
The Justice Riman also noted that such attitude amounts to forum shopping and abuse of judicial process.
The matter was therefore dismissed with punitive cost of N500,000 against the plaintiff.
