The 2019 ADR Conference of the Institute themed “ICMC at 20: A trajectory of Mediation Practice and Grassroots Conflict Transformation in Nigeria”, is scheduled to hold Tuesday, December 3, 2019 in Abuja.

Aisha Ado Abdullahi will be speaking in the panel session on the Singapore Mediation Convention.

Aisha Ado Abdullahi has a Law degree and Master’s in business and commercial law from Bayero University Kano, Nigeria. She also obtained her barrister at law degree from the Nigerian Law school. She has over ten years working experience as a lawyer and consultant in law and development matters working under the business name of Green Edge Attorneys (law firm) which she founded in 2007 and Green Horizon consultancy company in 2009. She is engaged in full-time General law practice (as a Barrister and Solicitor). She is currently the Legal and ADR consultant in Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry; setting up and heading the Abuja Chamber of Commerce Dispute Resolution Centre. She is also Deputy registrar of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC).

She is Co-Chair of the Young Mediators Sub-committee of the International Bar Association and also a Membership officer of the same committee.

Aisha served as a member of Council of Legal Education representing Nigeria Bar Association 2015-2018. She was a member of a team of consultants engaged by Justice for all programme of the British council and DFID that developed a training manual and delivered a series of training workshops on mediation and conflict resolution to Traditional rulers and the Wives of Traditional rulers (to enhance access to justice for women) in Jigawa State from 2009 to 2014.

Aisha was also a consultant/ Researcher for assessment on capacity of criminal justice institutions for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in 2014. She chaired a team that developed a media programme to increase awareness on rape and violence against women, causes and ways to seek redress & rehabilitation, under a coalition she is also Chairing in Kano State called C.A.R.A.V (Coalition Against Rape and Violence). She is on the panel of neutrals in the Abuja Chamber of Commerce dispute resolution center, Kano and Abuja multi-door court houses and also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK (Nigeria Branch).

As a Consultant to Justice for all programme of the DFID, Aisha served as a researcher in-charge of Kano State in the Identification and Mapping of Business Membership Organizations (BMOS) Trade and Market Associations (Tmas) non-court connected ADR Mechanisms In 4 States (Lagos, Kano, Anambra, Enugu) and the FCT, Abuja, 2013. She is also serving as a consultant on ADR and traditional mediation to DFID’s Justice for All (J4A) Programme. Aisha in her capacity as a member of the executive committee of the Kano Civil Society Forum also participated in the creation of a Human Rights Abuse Complaint Mechanism stationed in the Kano State Ministry of Justice which was set in place with the Support of the Justice for all programme of the DFID and Kano State Justice Sector Reform Team for the purpose of dealing with complaints against human rights violation by the Joint Task Force.

Aisha served as a researcher for the assessment of commercial dispute resolution mechanisms in Kano and Kaduna state conducted by HDI for DFID’s J4A programme in February 2012. She also served as a member of a team of Consultants for the development and domestication of the National Gender policy for Jigawa State funded by the Jigawa State Ministry of Women Affairs in November 2011. Aisha was a trainer on ADR for Magistrates at workshop on capacity building of magistrates, State Counsel and Police organized by Kwara State Ministry of Justice, Ilorin in February 2010.
