Buhari, who was recently re-elected for a second term, visited Warri on Monday for another round of campaigns specifically for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Great Ogboru. The state Publicity Secretary of the party, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza, said the visit was a ploy to rig Saturday’s elections in favour of the APC candidates. Osuoza, who stated this on Monday in Asaba, condemned President Buhari’s moves and schemes to rig Delta State’s governorship election as earlier boasted by the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole. He said, “As President Muhammadu Buhari visits Warri for the second time in two months, it is not a surprise that tongues are wagging among the Peoples Democratic Party in the state that the trip is in bad taste, as the party supporters and Deltans in general are wondering why the President has always limited his visits to a microscopic Warri and ignoring the larger areas of the state.” He advised Buhari not to get involved in sinister contrivances by using his office as President to manipulate the electoral process. “We say this because of the March 9, 2019 governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections, as we have it on good authority that Buhari’s trip is not altruistic, and has nothing to do with the good and progress of Delta State,” he stressed. Responding, the state Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Sylvester Imonina, described the allegation as a blackmail taken too far by the PDP. He said, “For the sake of peace-loving Deltans, the visit of Mr President is to enable him to have a town hall meeting with Deltans in order to know in details, the yearnings and aspirations of Deltans.” He said that the alarm raised by the PDP was unconnected with the air of defeat blowing in the home and gathering of the PDP in the state.]]>
