He said the reelection of President Buhari for a second term is an opportunity the administration needs to prove to Nigerians that it is better than the opposition. The Transport Minister also expressed confidence that Buhari will run an inclusive government, adding that the era blaming the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is over. “Not only will he run an all inclusive government but he will guided by the fact that Nigerians have suffered enough. It will be time to use the resources to develop the people” he said. Addressing a press conference Tuesday in Abuja to thank Nigerians for their support for the party, the Transportation minister said that President Buhari had in his acceptance speech, assured that he will work to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians under the next level agenda. Amaechi said: “The president has said that not only will he run an inclusive government but that he has also realised that Nigerians have suffered enough and that it is time to rescue Nigeria. “Let us work together as friends and in four years’ time we will come back for another election and encourage INEC to ensure election is free, fair and credible. That is what the President is emphasizing.” Harping on the four years of blame game, he claimed that the party had legitimate grounds for blaming the PDP for the greater part of its first four years, alleging that the PDP carted away the treasury leaving nothing for the development of infrastructure. He further claimed that had the opposition party committed to infrastructure development, the Calabar -Lagos Railway line would be attained. He “I think we should leave the past, whether PDP did well or not we now have another four years to prove that we are better than them. We have to prove them wrong by doing better. “So, there are no excuses. The president will ensure he runs a government that satisfy Nigerians and that is all we want. And, we plead with some of those who ask this question to please as journalists try and investigate properly.” On the threat by PDP to write the UN and other international bodies on alleged threat to democracy, Amaechi stressed that there’s no greater authority than the constitution of Nigeria. The former governor of Rivers State also chided the PDP and its national chairman, Uche Secondus, over allegation that there may be no elections in 2023. He said the threat to write to UN or.the United States of America is of no consequence, stating that they have no roles in the internal affairs of the country. “The US doesn’t have business in Nigeria because under this Buhari government, no superior authority. The highest superior authority in Nigeria now is Muhammadu Buhari and the constitution” He said the PDP chairman is neither the constitution nor President of Nigeria to decide whether there will be polls 2023 or not.. He stressed such issues like the holding of elections is prescribed by constitution of the country. On the move by PDP to challenge the electoral victory in court, Amaechi said it is within their constitutional right to go to court, even as he said the APC also have lawyers. He also blamed Governor Nyesom Wike for the spate of violence that characterized the presidential poll in Rivers state which claimed lives of civilians and soldiers. Amaechi said the regrettable incident occurred due the desperate bid by the Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike for a second term. Amaechi who said he deliberately chose not to talk about governance in Rivers state so that the governor will not blame him for its nonperformance, accused governor Wike of single-handedly ordering the withdrawal of N117 billion from state coffers in one day. “Just because one has ambition for second term so all human being should die, I was once a governor of Rivers state and I fought militants. I don’t know any of them and if you just tell me your are a militant, that is the end, immediately I will take you to court and You can ask anybody in Rivers state.” Amaechi alleged that instead of working with the military to maintain peace and order, the Rivers State Governor was busy recruiting people under his neighbourhood watch.]]>
