Bauchi APC lawmaker denies defecting to APC

The lawmaker‎ was said to have defected from the APC to the PRP alongside others as confirmed on telephone and a text message by the Bauchi State PRP chairman, Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi. Speaking to our reporter on telephone on his alleged defection to the party, the lawmaker said that, it was a mischief by the PRP to tarnish his image. “Yes, we had talks with the PRP about contesting on its platform when we were angry with what happened during the APC primaries and we were given forms by the party to become it’s members and contest on its platform.” “My supporters advised me to move to the PRP and contest. But I was persuaded by my party to stay as there will be some remedies. I was later given the ticket to contest in the recent by-election for Toro federal constituency and I won.” “I have since withdrawn my intention to contest ‎on the platform of the PRP and I have notified the party and INEC about it. So, for the chairman of the party to now said that, I have defected from the APC to the PRP is a mischief. He just want to attract attention by saying that I am a member of the party.” “I am in Kaduna now and all the papers are in Bauchi, I would have scanned and sent to you, to confirm that‎, I have withdrawn my intention to contest on the platform of the PRP and I have notified INEC about it,”he said. Nuhu was the APC candidate who won the recent by-election held for Toro federal constituency. However, the state PRP chairman, Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi insisted that the lawmaker is a member of the party. “I can give you‎ papers to prove that, he is a member of our party. He came to the party office and filled a form to contest for the House of Representatives seat. He however withdrew prior to the conduct of the Toro by-election,”he said.]]>
