*The Petition Is Dead On Arrival *There Are Other Qualifications Other Than WAEC Certificate *Accuses Atiku Of Treason * Says They Want To Test Atiku’s Qualification In Court * Says You Do Not Need A WAEC Certificate To Become President Or Governor The Spokesperson of the All Progressive Congress Campaign Team, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, has said that since 1960, the petition drafted by the PDP challenging the victory of President Buhari at the poll, on the ground that the results in the INEC’s server were not the results announced by the INEC is the most useless petition ever. Mr. Keyamo made this remark while responding to some questions posed to him by Mr. Segun of the Channels TV, and watched by TheNigerialawyer. According to the learned silk, the INEC has said that no such result reflected in the INEC’s server, therefore, the petition died on arrival. Speaking on their reply to the petition, he said that there are about six grounds on which the Petition was attacked, however, what seems to have caught the headlines is the ground challenging Atiku Abubakar’s qualification to contest the election as presidential candidate. According to him, people cannot look at positions Atiku has previously occupied to say that he is qualified to be the president of Nigeria. Commenting on the issue of Buhari’s WAEC Certificate, Mr. Keyamo said that it is extremely foolish for anybody who is not empowered to issue the WAEC certificate to challenge the body statutorily empowered to do so, adding that, from the day the body issued the certificate to Mr. President at the villa, the matter died a natural death. ”The body that was statutorily empowered to issue the WAEC Certificate, came to the Villa, and presented the original certificate of the President to him. It becomes extremely foolish for anybody who is not statutorily empowered to do such to challenge the body empowered to do so. ”From the day the body issued Mr. President the certificate, the matter died a natural death,” he said. Speaking further, he said that unknown to the opposition, there are other qualifications which a candidate can rely on contesting for the presidency, other than the WAEC Certificate. According to him, if one has occupied a public office for a reasonable period of time, such a person does not need a WAEC Certificate to become the president of Nigeria; that PDP act of challenging the President’s qualification is an exercise in futility. He also added that the WAEC Certificate of Mr. President is not subject to any other scrutiny, and that even the Court of law cannot review what a body statutorily empowered to do something has done, stressing that, the only way to challenge it is to look for the scripts written as far back as 1960. He further noted that ”its equivalent”, of a WAEC Certificate is if a Public Servant has worked in the Public Service for a reasonable period of time, say about 10 years. Also, Mr. Keyamo whilst speaking of the alleged Atiku/ US Romance stated that PDP needs to apologize to Nigerians for calling on foreign people to recognize Atiku as the winner of the just concluded presidential election. He stated that the letter which contained the lobbying was addressed to Atiku proving that Atiku was guilty of the treason as alleged. ]]>
